Hometown Pride

This afternoon Pete and I went to the movies (yes again, we are movie people).  We went to see Hairspray.  Wow this was such a fabulous movie.  Now I am not sure if this movie is huge across the nation.  Here in Baltimore it is huge.  The movie theater we go to all the time is a small neighborhood movie theater with only 4 screens and none of these have stadium seating.  It is great, no huge parking lots, cheap tickets ($6) and the best popcorn.  It is really the best!  Today when we got there the ticket line was down the street and the concession line even longer!  The theater was full of tons of older people in addition to younger ones.  Everyone wanted to see the movie set in Baltimore in 1962.  I was always a fan of the first one, and this one was even better!  The music (I want the soundtrack), the dancing, everything!  I loved that John Waters, Ricki Lake and Jerry Stiller all made cameos.  Now I am not totally sure if other people are going to love this as much as I do.  I mean it is made in my home town, the actors have Baltimore accents and the places are failure, like Patterson Park High School and North Avenue. I am also a chubby girl and I relate to Tracey Turnblad.  She fit right in with the other kids and I think that is what chubby pre teens all over need to see.  If they believe in themselves and have self confidence then other people will treat them the way they deserve to be treated.  It was such a feel good movie!  I haven’t loved a movie this much in a long long time!  If you haven’t seen it, go out and do so, it will be just like visiting me!

The Very Best Saturday & Bad News

Today was the best Saturday ever!  Since I will not be here next weekend and the weather was ABSOLUTLY PERFECT Pete and I wanted to do something fun today.  We woke up really early to go to breakfast before we drove Ann to the Airport.  It was sad to see her go since we don’t know when we will get to see her again.  We got her to the airport by 10 am and we talked about what to do today.  I suggested we head to Cunningham Falls.  You can see the history and all here.  The last time I was there I forgot my camera.  This time I took tons of pictures as you can see here!  Pete and I hiked this mile long trail to the falls.  It’s been a while since I went to the falls, I have been to the lake a lot more.  Well apparently I forgot how steep the trail got.  We both wore flip flops.  DUMB DUMB DUMB When we finally got to the falls it was barely a trickle.  It was like the water from a garden hose dripping over some rocks.  I was so disappointed.  I remember climbing the falls when I was like 14 years old.  No way in hell I would do that now.  After we climbed back down we headed over to the lake.  We had packed a cooler, some chairs, a blanket and our ipod and book!  We sat there and talked for over an hour, then I took a little nap.  I woke up and read my book while Pete listened to his ipod.  It was a perfect day.  The lake water was so cold!  We finally left and headed to a nearby orchard.  We got some Yellow Plums and Sweet Corn on the cob.  I love spending time with my favorite guy and today was just perfect!
