2011 Disney Vacation – Day 2

January 4, 2011

We had an early morning dining reservation at the Crystal Palace, but I was tooo tired and I turned off the alarm and rolled back over. I just could not get back up at 6:30am! I just couldn’t.

I got up around 9am and Pete went to the food court to get us breakfast. I had a bagel (that he didn’t toast??) and he had something…Eggs and a biscuit maybe? We got showers and got dressed. Bobby called from next door and they were able to find them a ground floor room so they were moving. The room wasn’t ready yet so I gave Bobby my room key and they moved their luggage into our room. Bobby also gave us our rum for on the ship. The housekeeper kept coming to see if we were gone yet. They wanted to get in our room to clean. We told Jenna and them goodbye and told them we would see them at lunch.

Pete and I made our way to the bus. There are two side by side bus stops at Port Orleans and the Magic Kingdom is the 2nd one. We were there about 10:30 or so.

It was close to 11:00am when we got to the Magic Kingdom. I was just as excited today as I was yesterday. I love the Magic Kingdom.

We walked around into the shops on the right hand side of Main Street. We spent a long time in the Art store. This is one of our favorite stores on Main Street. We picked out some Art, but didn’t buy anything yet.

I did take a picture of the cute Toy Story figures.

Posted Image

I love this little street. I took Pete down here to hear the “Music Lessons”.

Posted Image

The next store we went in was the glass blowing store. There wasn’t a person there at this time, but I got a picture anyway.

Posted Image

We shopped a bit before we went to check in at the Plaza.

Posted Image

I love the Plaza. It is so quaint and cute. We got sat right next to Jenna.

Pete ordered a Milk Shake as his drink. I love that they use Chocolate Ice cream for the shake instead of vanilla. It really does make a difference.

I got the Chicken Sandwich with Ham and Cheese on it and Pete got a Ruben.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Can you tell I forgot to take a picture before Pete started eating. LOL Oh and his bread was not burned, it was marble rye bread. Mine was very good (Jenna’s sister got the same thing) and Pete said he enjoyed his too.

Jenna and crew was on the dining plan so they got dessert. We didn’t start our dining plan until tomorrow and were SOOO stuffed that we didn’t have dessert. Instead we got Riley!!!

Posted Image

Look at Pete…He is making fun of Riley’s “serious face” LOL.

Pete always gets him first, but I got my turn and a kiss.

Posted Image

and a nose squeeze

Posted Image

LOL Silly Boy!

Riley wanted a group picture so of course we had to pose for one.

Posted Image

I know I said it before but I love this kid. I feel a special connection to him since I knew about him before almost anyone!

Posted Image

As we were leaving we saw these two.

Posted Image

I love them. It’s so cute that Disney adds this little skit to your meal at the Plaza.

We got Jillian, Jenna’s sister to take our picture with Pete’s phone. He has a really cool app called “Simply Postcards” that lets you take any picture and turn it into a post card. So we wanted one in front of the castle to send to our parents.

The Move it Shake it Show was starting so we enjoyed it. I love the music.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

We said bye to Jenna and headed up to the Castle area since the show was getting ready to start. We took some Statue pictures while we waited.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

A nice lady offered to take our picture….CHEESE!

Posted Image

The show started…

Posted Image

I wish I had the zoom lens, actually I wish I had a 15mm-200mm lens!

Posted Image

When the show was over we saw this cutie. Pete named her Princess of the Trash. LOL

Posted Image

We wanted to see Rapunzel, but the line was starting for the 3pm show and it was maybe 1:30pm. I didn’t want to wait, so I snapped some candid pictures.

Posted Image

Posted Image

She was really pretty. I always picture her as Mandy Moore since that is the voice I hear when she talks. This girl really looked like my mental picture.

We wandered around Tomorrowland next. It wasn’t real sunny, but the temperature was perfect. Pete bought a pin and I got a water then we jumped on the People Mover. We stayed on twice since I love it so much. Doesn’t it seem longer since the renovations.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now it was time for my favorite Walt Disney Attraction EVER!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

I wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear, but Pete said it wasn’t worth 45 minutes in line. So we went to Monster’s Inc. instead.

Posted Image

I got yelled at for taking pictures as soon as I snapped this blurry one…LOL

Posted Image

They used my joke in the Monster’s Inc. Show. What do you call an Elephant in Glass Slippers? Cinderellaphant! LOL

We walked past the desert party location and talked about how awesome the party was last year with all my friends. Here is a picture is refresh your memory.

Posted Image

The sun came out and it was getting a little warm.

Posted Image

So all this dessert talk made us want a sweet treat so we stopped by the bakery. I got a Cupcake (for icing purposes only) and Pete got an Ice Cream Sandwich.

Posted Image

Posted Image

This turned out to be Cream Cheese icing and not buttercream. I should have asked. It was ok, but no Buttercream!

Posted Image

We ended up back in the glass store and there was a guy making a vase. It was so cool, I wanna learn how to do that!

Posted Image

We took pictures of overpriced nick nacks.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Then I found the perfect sun glasses. Pete said get them, but I saw the price tag….$35. I decided to pass. But he made me get them. I am so glad, I love them!!!

Posted Image

ahhh to be a Disney Bride again!!!

Posted Image

We listened to some street music (why are they still playing Christmas songs, sure my tree is still up, but the Holiday is OVER) before we went back to the Art store.

Posted Image

Posted Image

We bought two prints for our guest room and a picture of a beach scene for my Dad’s beach house. We are going to frame it and hang it next time we go down there.

I wanted one last look at Toon Town (Sniff Sniff) so we took the train that way, but in true Reese fashion stayed on an extra loop before getting off.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I am going to miss Toon Town, I am not crazy over the Circus area at all. I don’t even like the real Circus!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Pooh and Tigger were out, we just waved as we walked by!

Posted Image

We walked hand in hand around Fantasyland talking about the new improvements coming and being there when it was empty for our wedding pictures. I set up this picture of Pete trying to pull the sword from the stone, I like it with the Castle in the background instead of the Carousel (feel free to borrow it).

Posted Image

How cool is it that the fireworks from the Castle show went off soon as I took the picture.

My Picture is not as awesome, we need a class on how to focus properly, I wish I could take my own pictures.

Since we missed Mickey’s Philharmagic I made sure we saw it this time. We timed it perfectly, no line.

Posted Image

I took this picture for our own little Wolfgang!

Posted Image

I had idea for a Carousel picture. I set up the tripod and Pete ran to the bathroom. I got one picture before it started raining.

Posted Image

We took cover under the overhang near Pinocchio’s. We got chairs and waited out the rain for about a half hour.

Posted Image

I love it!! I want to frame it for the guest room!

It was about 6:30pm and I wanted a good spot for the fireworks so I took a few pictures behind the Castle before walking around to the front side.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

We still had almost an hour til Wishes, but I really wanted a good spot. I set up the tripod and stood cover to make sure it didn’t get bumped. This is about where I set it up.

Posted Image

I took a few test shots while I waited.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now I had Pete standing in front of me and a nice guy and his little girl to my left who were in position for the fireworks. Then a lady walks up tp me and hands me her Photopass card. LOL I told her I was not a Photopass Photographer. Since when do they wear Tie Dye. LOL

I was nervous about getting bumped. I had to hold my arms out to the side to make sure no one hit me. It was worth it though….

Stay tuned, fireworks pictures are coming soon!

January 4, 2011 – FIREWORKS & Hoop Dee Doo!

As soon as Wishes was over I handed Pete the Camera and we took off to the exit. I was closing the tripod up as we power-walked to the exit. Pete knew I had a special dinner planned, but he didn’t know what or where. We got to the boat dock and he figured it out. We were about 15 people back in line so we really lucked out.

Posted Image

The boat came and we had a nice relaxing ride to Fort Wilderness.

Posted Image

Once we got there we checked in for the Hoop Dee Doo and had the pictures taken, I wish I could have justified $30 for it since it looked nice, but no way!

Posted Image

We waited maybe 25 minutes for the prior show to let out while I talked to my Dad. Then we got our seat. It was a great one right on the floor!

Pete was sooo impressed, he told me it was the most fun he has ever had at Disney. Everytime I looked at him he was smiling!

When the show was over Pete told me we NEED to bring his parents here next year! We walked out and they had a bus for us right there ready to go. We got back to Port Orleans around 12:30am. The room was perfect. It was clean and smelled fresh. I am so glad Disney came through. We got a drink and headed right to bed! Tomorrow we move to Bay Lake Towers!

Weekend Update

I had a really good, really busy weekend.

Friday night Pete and I went to our favorite Chinese food place.  OMG it is so good.  I can never eat Chinese take out again, and just the though of a Chinese buffet makes me throw up in my mouth just a little.  The place we go is a fancy restaurant.  There are cloth table cloths and they give you water before your real dink.  It is a real nice place and the food (Shrimp) is to die for!

Saturday I was awake and dressed before 7am.  Laura picked me up on her way home from work and we headed to a consignment sale.  It wasn’t as good as the last one, but Laura got a few baby things and I got Pete some Tastefully Simple brownie mix.  It is he favorite.

Saturday afternoon we went to visit my Aunt and cousins in West Virginia.  We had a great time.  We hung out and the guys played pool!  It was alot of fun.  Alyssa enjoyed herself too.

We also picked up my new furniture.  A new Hutch and Tile topped table.  It is so nice, I love it.  We couldn’t fit the chairs in the truck so I have to pick them up next week.

This weekend also involved lots of cleaning up.  I am having guests this week (Sooo excited) and I needed to  get the guest room straighten up and some wedding gifts put away (in the new hutch).  I did not get to paint the dining room like I wanted because my dad is fixing a crack in the wall and it will not be done in enough time to paint before Michele and Co. get here.  We did hang some wedding pictures and it makes the whole room look better!

Yesterday I was feeling under the weather a bit, then Laura, Brandon and Alyssa came to visit and to get some things from the attic.  Laura found our little wooden rocking chairs in the attic.  We both had one and they have our name and the year wee got them written on the bottom.  Laura took hers home for Alyssa and I cleaned mine up for Alyssa to use at my house.  She loved it.

So after all of that I was still feeling crappy.  I think I am just run down.  Work is kicking my ass lately and I have been super busy outside of work.  My throat is sore, but I did spend time with my head in the bleach filled tub, inhaling those fumes so I am hoping that is why my throat hurts and not because I am getting sick.  Alyssa has had a runny nose for over a week so I am hoping she didn’t bring any nasty germs home from day care!  I have company coming and I want to be at my best.  We have visiting to do and games to play and dinner parties to host!  LOL

Her First (Disney) Words…and other stuff!

Last night I went to visit my favorite girl and we were playing on the floor.  I showed her my super cool Cinderella Socks (ahhh so nice to have kid sized feet).  She really liked them.  She then showed me her new Princess Sweat Shirt, Laura is buying for our trip already.  Then Alyssa was acrossed the room and pointed and said Cin Cin Cin Cin.  Well ALyssa points and yells alot.  Ugh Ugh…whatzat whatzat….ohshit ohshit are some of her favorite things to say.  We didn’t really acknowledge her Cin Cin Cin so she ran over pointed to my sock and looked me dead in the eyes and said Cin Cin Cin….ah Cinderella!  She then clapped because as dumb as we are we finally figured it out.  Then she pointed to Cinderella on her Cup and her Sweatshirt and her bookbag and proceeded to tell us Cin Cin Cin!  I was so proud of my girl.  She said her first Disney Words.

I placed an order of some wedding pictures….I have to fill my frames….I placed the order on Wednesday night,  I just got an email from fed ex that they have been delivered!   I can not wait to get home and rip open that envelope!  I got an 11×14, two 12×12’s, two 8×10’s and 10 4×6’s.  The total with shipping was only $44!  YAY!  I am so happy.  They are TOP quality.  For those of you who got pictures with your thank you cards, they are the same finish.  I love them.  Now if only I didn’t have to go to the damn bank after work.

I am having house guests on Wednesday.  I can not wait.  I am pretty sure my dining room will not be done and this makes me sad.  I wanted it painted and the pictures hung before Michele and the crew showed up.  My dad is repairing a crack in the wall that turned into him ripping have the wall out and now I just know it won’t be done!

I do have their guest room all ready and plan on doing my food shopping this weekend.  I have a great menu planned for when they are here.  I am going to serve up my favorites!  MMM MMM!

Including this Buffalo Chicken Dip, made famous by my wonderful sister.

Laura’s Tasty Buffalo Chicken Dip

2 – 10 Cand of Chunk Chicken, Drained

2 – 8 ounce packages of Cream Cheese

1 cup of Ranch Dressing (or more to taste)

3/4 cup of H0t Sauce  (Crystal’s is good)

2 Cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Heat Chicken and Hot Sauce in a small pot over medium heat, stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing.  Cook on medium and stir until well blended and warm, slowly add shredded cheese.  Transfer to a crock pot to stay warm if you are having a party or gathering.  Serve with corn chips (I prefer Totstidos Scoops.

Weekend Update with Lisa – Part Two

So it seems like I only update about the weekends.  Well that is because during the week I do the same stuff day after day.  No one cares I did 4 loads of laundry last night or that someone stole ladders out of my yard on Monday!

Last Sunday we went on a picnic.  It was so fun.  We drove around a while trying to pick a place to go.  We settled on Centennial Park in Howard County.  It is a pretty park.  We had lunch and sat around and chit chatted.  I of course had my camera and I took a bunch of pictures.  That Alyssa is too darn cute.  These are my favorites.  Which one is your favorite:

Parade

My sister lives on a main street in the neighborhood of Arbutus.  The town has a big parade each year and we usually go watch it.  It goes right down Laura’s street so this year she set up a tent and we all came to share in Alyssa’s first parade.  As a bit of a back story I hate parades that are not in WDW for the same reason as the fireworks…none ever live up!  Well every year my mom would get all decked out in her red white & blue and head to the parade.  Once I got old enough to stay home I stopped going.  My Mom and I would fight each year cause I didn’t want to go site in the July heat and watch a bunch of nothing.  This year I forced Pete into it (he hates parades too) so we could share in Alyssa’s first parade.  It wasn’t too hot and Laura had a sun shade and we sat in her front yard.  Alyssa LOVED the parade…LOVED IT!  She squealed and smiled and watched intensely.  It was cute.  Here are a few pictures and the rest are on Flickr.

Fireworks

Last night we went to see the fireworks in Catonsville.  It was a good display, but once you have seen fireworks in Walt Disney Word none are as good.  I did play the soundtrack from the Disney Fireworks to try to recreate it.  LOL  Here are a few of my favorite pictures that I took with the New Nikon D60, and the rest are all on flickr.  Check them out here!

Alyssa

Alyssa is the apple of my eye!  I love her more then I have ever loved anyone in my whole life.  She is such a  joy and she is the best baby.  He parents sure got lucky!  Today Laura and I got some great pictures of my favorite girl.

This one is my new favorite of her!

She is telling me something important here!

Alyssa

She loves being thrown up in the air!

Enjoying Herself

Alyssa loves me almost as much as I love her.  We all cover her in kisses daily and I love when she gives them back.  Today she grabbed my face, one hand on each cheek, and then she went in for a big wet kiss!
